What does a failing catalytic converter smell like?
A failing catalytic converter produces a rotten egg or sulphur smell from the exhaust. This indicates it’s not properly converting hydrogen sulphide in the exhaust gases. It may also trigger a check engine light with P0420/P0430 codes.
